PACK 58

 Return to the BUILD

“Every DB5 had a DB5 badge on the [trunk] to the right of the license plate. This is mysteriously missing from 007’s car in Goldfinger.”

Ironically enough, if you look closely on our model, there is a slight indication of this DB5 badge or lack thereof:

License Plate

Step 1

Retrieve the Trunk Lid assembly from the previous pack, as well as your License Plate Retainer from Pack 56. Clip the License Plate Retainer into the matching opening of the Trunk Lid, as shown.

There is a correct orientation to snap this into place. If you look at the ‘tabs’ of the License Plate Retainer you will notice that one side of them is larger than the other side. In the photo below, the larger tabs are on the right:

These larger tabs go towards the top of the Trunk Lid during install. I hooked the small lower tabs in place first, then pushed the top tabs into place:

It should be flush and square once installed:

Slide the pegs on either end of the Rear License Plate and Base into these matching notches inside the Trunk Lid. Make sure the numbers are right side up, as shown:

Step 2

The two Tail Light Plate Retainers are marked ‘L’ and ‘R’ for left and right sides:

Fit the Left Tail Light Plate Retainer over the matching locating peg, and secure into place with one (1) Type C screw, as shown.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Fit the Right Tail Light Plate Retainer over the matching locating peg, and secure into place with one (1) Type C screw, as shown:

At this point, the Rear License Plate and Base should be secured in place, but you can rotate it to expose the different plates:

Thoughts

The trunk is looking pretty sharp now, with a rotating license plate in place! We did not use the Bulletproof Screen Housing Rear in this pack, but we will need it soon so keep it nearby.
